David is a Director of Team International and has worked with Team International as a client, director, tutor and friend for more than 12 years. David’s first encounter with Team International was a supposedly 30 minute sales meeting that went on for the rest of the day. He felt that their ideas were so powerful that a program of team building was put together for all the business he was Managing Director of and, as they say, the rest is history.
He is the son of a miner, read Chemistry at Imperial College but soon realised that his real interests were business rather than scientific.
By the age of 33, David was managing a group of 400 people building state of art electronics and one year later was Managing Director of an engineering firm. From that point on he has always been involved in change and innovation at board level. He is a practical person not only with the intellectual ability to develop strategy but also the skills to see through the implementation to a result. He is committed to helping others to develop their own potential. As an example, in the 80’s as a director of Lex Electronics, he developed and co-ran a one-week training program for every person in the business. In 1989 he was approached to manage and develop a joint leasing venture leasing company between Lex and Lombard. Over an eight year period he transformed the scale, focus and profitability of the business. He negotiated the sale of half the joint venture to an American Financial Services company. This was a complex project full of management, technical and political challenges.
In 1997 he founded a consultancy to enable him to work with people that he trusted and respected The business has been very successful working with a wide range of diverse blue chip clients and projects. He has contracts with leading Banks and financial institutions.
David’s key strength is his wide experience of a large number of business sectors, jobs and levels within business and he can say, without being arrogant, that he has done virtually every job within a business He possesses the combination of vision, honesty, practicality and leadership that people relate to.
He is a devoted family man and has two sons, a daughter and three grandchildren (and hopefully still counting)
David is an NLP practitioner, a qualified trainer and has studied counselling. His major relaxation is making furniture using traditional methods of construction and finishing. Is possible that this might be another business venture but the big problem is that having lavished the care into making his pieces he finds it hard to part with them!
David’s speciality is Finance and he is a regular lecturer in the CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) programme
